Peru in Three Worlds

From $7,880

April 15-29

Peru is a place where the culinary worlds of geography, immigration, and innovation collide to form one of the world’s most varied cuisines.

Here, Andean mountain air, Amazon riches, and the salty kick of a fresh Pacific catch mix with ancient civilizations and modern-day newcomers right on your plate. With each bite, you gain an understanding of how heritage made the food and how the food made the people.

This itinerary takes you deep into Peruvian culture. Private dinners and hidden bars give way to casual family meals and hands-in-the-soil farm visits. You’ll make your own meals, distill your own liquor, and gain a new appreciation for what it takes for your morning joe to end up in your cup, all with the help of real locals, carrying on the traditions of their people. Even better, you’ll set out on this journey with a small group of like-minded travelers who are as curious about what hides below the tourist top soil as you are.

So forget the travel guide. On this trip, you’ll learn about the country straight from the people who carry its heritage in their bones and who cultivate its potential into the future. It’s slow food, fast friends, and the kind of adventure where experiences are the souvenirs you take home.

  • Health Requirements:

Your wellbeing matters... to you, to us, and to the group you’ll be traveling with. We can’t provide specific medical or vaccination advice, so please discuss any pre-existing conditions, medications, and any required 'entry' vaccinations with your doctor. This helps ensure you’re ready — physically and mentally — to safely travel internationally, to a specific country, and participate safely and comfortably in this tour and all scheduled activities.

    What you agree to:

    • You’re in good general health and will let us know about any medical (physical or mental) conditions or medications that could affect your participation.

    • If you have a severe allergy or medical condition that might require intervention, you’ll provide a medical action plan before departure.

    • You’ll carry a doctor’s note listing any prescription medications while traveling.

  • Most of our trips have a tip kitty because many cultures have diverse rules when it comes to tips. We’ve found it to be the easiest way to combat over-tipping, under-tipping or having the tip fall into the wrong hands. Our goal is for guests to relax and know that the complexities of tipping are taken care of, on their behalf.

The recommended amount for this trip will be around PEN 923–1,008 (USD 275–30).

  • This trip begins and ends in Lima. We recommend flying into Lima’s New Jorge Chávez International Airport. The same airport is the most convenient option for your departure.

  • Try to arrive before midday on the start day, although earlier would be recommended. If possible, come one day early to settle in.

  • Opportunities to do laundry during your trip may be unpredictable. However, your guide will be able to assist with this during your trip.

  • Your guide will be with you throughout your trip, and is your first point of call for any help you might need.

In the unlikely event of a health or security related incident during a trip, we’ve engaged a local partner to assist. From our experience, there is not one framework that fits all, and every incident is unique and requires a different approach. With all trips, your guides are your day-to-day support. While behind the scenes, there is an active line of communication – between your guide, the on-ground support team, and Australian Ops.

Read our Trip Help Process for more detail.

  • People who join our trips tend to be well travelled, curious, and comfortable with a bit of looseness in the plan if the food or the moment leads us somewhere better. They care more about what’s real than what’s polished, and they’re happy trading Michelin stars for access, stories, and meals with a point of view. That is, not all white tablecloths and perfectly composed plates; it might mean a plastic stool, a smoky kitchen, a cook who knows their regulars by name, and a dish that carries a bit of history.

We also expect guests to follow our Participation Guidelines; they keep everyone happy, safe, and having fun throughout their adventure.
